Pick of the Pundits – Anton Dolin to dole out a profit at Newbury

Published:

Gary Nutting of the Sunday Mirror reclaimed his place atop the Racing Post naps competition after tipping 4/1 shot Tillietudlem yesterday.

It was Nutting’s first winner in 17 attempts but despite a mini blip in form, he still remains the man to follow with a return of £16.58 to the pound on his naps this month.

Along with two tipsters from the Racing Post, Nutting is napping Anton Dolin in the 9.10 at Newbury this evening and of the three tipsters napping John Dunlop’s horse, two of them are providing a positive return for the month.

21.10 Newbury: Anton Dolin – 9/4

Chasing a fourth consecutive win, there is plenty to like about Anton Dolin in this Class 4 handicap over a mile and a half.

Anton Dolin and Four Nations meet in a repeat of their last run at Newbury where the former beat the later to first prize by three-quarters of a length, but Anton Dolin finds himself just 2lbs higher than Four Nations today.

This is a step-up in class for both horses and there are two interesting horses in Viking Storm and Schism who need to be considered, but on the basis of Anton Dolin’s last race and the weights, he has the beating of Four Nations.

Schism was 6 lengths behind Havant, a Group Three winner, on her first ever start and was a winner in a Class 5 maiden at Chepstow on her last start and offers plenty of each-way value at 8/1.

Viking Storm finished nine lengths behind King George V Stakes winner Brown Panther at Haydock on his last start and four lengths behind Census, second to Brown Panther in the Royal Ascot race.

Charlie Wyatt’s horse has won a Class 5 maiden and looks a great price at 7/1, and the value is in backing Viking Storm over Anton Dolin today.
