News of Gerry McIlroy’s £200,000 win has triggered a surge in proud parents calling bookies and Ladbrokes report a 50% increase in odds requests of this nature in the week after McIlroy’s Open success
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “McIlroy Snr’s winning bet has inspired parents up and down the land to follow suit and invest. Many have framed their betting slips as they cross their fingers for the future.”
Along with normal sporting requests the firm have also quoted odds about a five-year-old boy going on to be the Prime Minister (5000/1) and a girl currently in year nine graduating with a First class degree from Oxford in veterinary science (20/1)
