Manchester United begin title defence with visit to West Brom

Manchester United’s assault on a 20th top flight title will begin with a visit to Roy Hodgson’s West Bromwich Albion.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will play at the Hawthorns on Saturday 13th August and follow it up with extremely hard home games against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

United are currently 7/4 to win the Premier League, with Chelsea – who start with a tough visit to Stoke – just behind at 5/2.

Arsenal begin with a visit to St James’ Park to face Newcastle, scene of their thrilling 4-4 draw last season.

It marks the start of a very difficult opening for the Gunners who also face Liverpool at home and Man utd away in August – as well as having to play two Champions League qualifying games.

Relegation favourites Swansea City travel to Manchester City for their first Premier League game, while fellow new boys Queens Park Rangers host Bolton Wanderers and Norwich City travel to Wigan Athletic.

Swansea are currently 4/7 to go straight back to the Championship and their survival chances won’t have been helped by having to face Manchester United away in their penultimate game of the season and Liverpool at home in their final clash.

Blackburn face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening fixture, while Tottenham travel to Everton where they haven’t won in four games.

Finally, Liverpool new boy Jordan Henderson looks set to make his debut against his old club Sunderland, who travel to Anfield for their opening day fixture.
