Former Chelsea striker feels it could be end for Drogba & Anelka

If Andre Villas-Boas does decide to raid former club Porto in the transfer market, then it may mean a swift exit from Chelsea for both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Villas-Boas is almost certain to want to bring some new faces to Stamford Bridge this summer, with a creative midfielder potential towards the top of any list.

However, with Radomel Falcao and Hulk proving such a deadly strikeforce for the manager as Porto won three trophies last season, there is a strong likelihood that at least one of the duo will follow him to Chelsea.

Falcao is considered the more likely to make a switch to Chelsea and Hasselbaink believes that there is no way that Villas-Boas will be able to keep four strikers happy, particularly when his favoured formation is with just one central forward.

The Mirror reports that Hasselbaink said: “Falcao is a goalscorer, a predator. If he comes in then that means it will be the end of Anelka and Drogba because it is going to be between [Fernando] Torres and Falcao.

“Think about it. Drogba can only play through the middle. Torres can only play through the middle. Anelka’s best position? Its through the middle.

“If Falcao comes its going to be through the middle and Villas-Boas wants to play in a 4-3-3. So only one can play at a time.”

Chelsea finished second in the Premier League last season despite Drogba and Frank Lampard suffering with fairly lengthy injuries, while the likes of Torres and Michael Essien were short of their best on many occasions.

Therefore, there is a case that they do not actually need to sign anyone in order to win the Premier League, although any signings are liable to strengthen their squad further.

Chelsea are 5/2 in the Premier League odds to win the title this season, with Manchester United remaining the 7/4 favourites.
