Fabregas takes surprise companion on Barcelona break

Cesc Fabregas’ proposed move to Barcelona begins today as the Arsenal midfielder has returned to his homeland for a holiday.

However, the return home will involve more than topping up his suntan as rather conveniently his agent Darren Dein has joined him for the break.

According to Catalan newspaper Sport, the duo have initially flown into Madrid so that Fabregas can complete some media work promoting the fragrances of Ángel Schlesser and from there will head to Barcelona.

Barcelona have been chasing Fabregas for about 12 months, but the Catalan giants failed in their efforts to sign the midfielder last summer, despite negotiations seemingly going on for months.

The chase for Fabregas is already underway and the big issue surrounding the deal will largely be the same as last summer, as Arsenal and Barcelona struggle to agree on a deal for the 24-year-old.

Barcelona have so far started negotiations at €30m and have reportedly offered Bojan and Thiago Alcantara as potential makeweights in any such deal.

Arsenal have yet to accept any terms, but given the latest pictures from the launch of their new kit, they are expecting both he and Samir Nasri to no longer be at the club for the start of the next Premier League season.

Robin Van Persie, Jack Wilshere and Alex Song are the players to have promoted the new kit and even Bacari Sagna has spoken out in relation to Fabregas’ comments that he has his heart set on a return home to Barcelona.

Losing Fabregas and Nasri would be a big blow to Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League next season and could even potentially leave them vulnerable to finishing outside of the top four.

It is 8/1 in the Premier League odds that Arsenal are crowned champions next season and 4/7 that they retain their spot in the top four.
