Wozniacki to power past Hantuchova and regain favouritism

One bad set in her second round match has seen Caroline Wozniacki’s French Open odds drift to the point she is now fourth favourite, but punters can expect the world number one to resurrect her favouritism on Friday.

Daniela Hantuchova stands between Woznaicki and a place in the quarter-final, but the Slovakian world number 29 should prove little trouble for the world number one.

Wozniacki is the 2/7 favourite to beat Hantuchova and having won all three of their encounters in straight sets, it looks as if punters should snap up the 8/11 for Wozniacki to win 2-0.

Hantuchova made a semi-final appearance in Strasbourg last week but that was in a field a lot weaker than this Grand Slam field and Wozniacki should have no problems winning comfortably and reminding her layers just why she is the world number one.

Jelena Jankovic vs Bethanie Mattek-Sands

Mattek-Sands has struggled through her opening two French Open matches but the American presents a real test for Jankovic on Friday.

The world number 34 steps her game up when she plays the top seeds, and Mattek-Sands offers plenty of value at 3/1 to win.

In Madrid a fortnight ago, Mattek-Sands beat Ana Ivanovic and Francesca Schiavone before losing to Na Li despite two breaks of serve in the final set, and Jankovic, who has stuggled for form on clay, should be worried.

Jankovic is the very short 2/9 favourite and is favoured to win 2-0 at 8/13, but the 6/1 for Mattek-Sands to win 2-1 looks the pick of the market.

Shuai Peng vs Francesca Schiavone

The two have two wins apiece in their head-to-heads and both have one win each this year, although Schiavone’s win on clay in Madrid just hands her the advantage and the Italian is 8/15 to win.

This could be the tightest match of the day and backing either player to win 2-1 – Peng is 10/3 with Schiavone available at 3/1 – would provide a tidy profit.

A £10 stake on Mattek-Sands beating Jankovic 2-1 would return £70. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
