West Ham favoured to bounce straight back to the Premier League

You can guarantee that should West Ham United land Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, their promotion odds will shorten dramatically.

West Ham are currently trading at 2/1 to win promotion back to the Premier League next season, but while the Hammers prepare for a summer clearout, Ancelotti’s arrival could see many players sticking around.

Ancelotti is currently 20/1 with Ladbrokes to be the next West Ham manager but is trading as low as 8/1 with other bookmakers, and comments from the Italian in the Sunday papers would suggest a move to Upton Park is a real possibility.

The likes of Scott Parker, Rob Green, Demba Ba, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Carlton Cole would all be looking to engineer a move away from Upton Park, but all five may be prepared to play Championship football under Ancelotti.

Ladbrokes are offering 66/1 that West Ham, Blackpool and Birmingham City all win promotion back to the Premier League next season, but West Ham are the favoured team with promotion odds of 2/1 compared to Birmingham (9/4) and Blackpool (11/2).

Under Ancelotti West Ham would be the favourites to land the Championship title in a division which should prove very competitive next year.

The likes of Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Burnley, Middlesbrough and Southampton will all be challenging the three relegated teams for promotion next season, and the West Ham board need to get their next managerial appointment right.

Alex McLeish’s Birmingham career could be coming to an end following their relegation and the Scot has been installed as the 2/1 favourite to take over at West Ham, but the Scot has stated his desire to remain at Birmingham next year.

A £10 stake on West Ham United being promoted next season would return £30. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
