Warnock ends the speculation linking him with the West Ham job
Published:Neil Warnock may be in charge of a Premier League team but come the start of next season, the Queens Park Rangers boss could be back in the Championship say Ladbrokes.
Ladbrokes have installed Warnock as the 7/2 favourite to replace Avram Grant at West Ham but this morning Warnock has stated that his future lies with his current club.
“I want to reiterate to our supporters that, having spoken to the board at QPR – Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore and Amit Bhatia – in the last few days, they have assured me that my future is not in any doubt whatsoever,” said Warnock.
It’s the first time since QPR lifted the Championship trophy that the manager or the board has publically spoken about Warnock’s position and it seems the club have finally come to a decision.
This leaves West Ham fans looking for another suitable candidate and based on the next West Ham manager odds, the value lies in backing Chris Hughton at 6/1 to replace Grant.
The former West Ham player has a rapport with the club and having guided Newcastle to the Championship title in the 2009/10 season, has the pedigree to take West Ham back into the Premier League.
Like Newcastle, West Ham will lose a number of players before the start of next season but Hughton stabilised and rebuilt Newcastle and is currently looking for a new job.
His low wage demands would suit the West Ham board and having worked with a tricky board at Newcastle, West Ham fans could be confident that he could deal with the likes of David Sullivan, David Gold and Karen Brady.
Other contenders in the running to be the next West Ham manager are Gus Poyet (9/2), Martin O’Neill (5/1), Paolo Di Canio (5/1), Malky MacKay (8/1), Roberto Di Matteo (10/1), Sam Allardyce (10/1), Slaven Billic (10/1) and Stuart Pearce (14/1).
