Peterborough vs MK Dons – Posh to maintain play-off record

Published:

Peterborough can take advantage of their good fortune from the first leg of their League One play-off semi final with MK Dons to successfully qualify for the final.

Posh could have easily been more than one goal down from the opening leg, but showed good determination to leave Milton Keynes with just a 3-2 defeat.

Now back on their own patch, Peterborough will be confident of overturning their deficit and are 11/10 to qualify for the final.

It is 5/6 that they beat MK Dons within the 90 minutes, although they obviously must win by two goals to reach Wembley without the need for extra time.

The omens are good for Peterborough as they have been promoted on the only two previous occasions that they have been involved in the play-offs.

A draw at London Road would be enough to send MK Dons through to the final and one step closer to playing in the Championship for the first time since moving from Wimbledon in 2003.

MK Dons are 3/1 to beat Peterborough again, while it is 11/4 that they secure the draw they require.

Alternatively, 4/6 is available on MK Dons qualifying for the final.

Their chances may be boosted by the fact that Peterborough will be without regular goalkeeper Joe Lewis and defender Charlie Lee, while Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will have to pass a late fitness test.

First Goalscorer

Peterborough’s Craig Mackail-Smith opened the scoring in the first leg and there is not obvious reason why he will not do so again.

Mackail-Smith is 4/1 to break the deadlock in the League One odds and has opened the scoring in two of Peterborough’s three meetings with MK Dons this season.

He also ended the regular League One season as the division’s top scorer.
