Murray with last chance to find clay form before the French Open

Published:

With the French Open just a week away, the Internazionali BNL d’Italia Open offers players the last chance to fine tune their clay court games for the second Grand Slam of the season.

Andy Murray’s clay court game needs more of a service than a fine tuning having exited in the second round to Thomas Belucci in Madrid last week, and with just six clay court games under his belt this season, the Scot will be looking to get into the latter stages.

Up first for Murray is Xavier Malisse and having beaten him convincingly in their last two meetings, Murray should have no problems progressing and is 2/9 to win the match and 8/13 to win 2-0.

Should Murray justify his favouritism he’s likely to face Viktor Troicki in the third round and Jurgen Melzer in the fourth round before a potential semi-final with the hottest prospect in tennis at the moment.

Novak Djokovic looks unbeatable at the moment and offers plenty of value at 15/8 to win the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and should Murray make it that far, Djokovic will surely end the Scot’s chances.

Djokovic doesn’t open his challenge until tomorrow when he takes on Lukasz Kubot in a match he is 1/50 to win but there is plenty of value on offer in today’s Internazional BNL d’Italia betting.

Robin Soderling vs Fernando Verdasco

In the biggest of the second round ties, Verdasco will fancy his chances of upsetting the out-of-sorts Soderling and is 2/1 to emerge victorious.

The two have met six times previously with Soderling winning four times, but it’s the latest meeting in which Verdasco beat Soderling on clay in Barcelona last year, and Verdasco is 9/2 to repeat that 2-1 victory.

Feliciano Lopez vs Michael Llodra

Llodra looks incredible value at 7/4 to beat Lopez today considering he has won the last two meetings between the two.

Rafael Nadal ended Llodra’s Madrid Open last week but the Frenchman put in some strong performances in the earlier rounds and looks the pick of today’s Internazionali BNL d’Italia odds.

A £10 stake on Verdasco beating Soderling 2-1 would return £55. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
