Man City plan Arsenal raid to strengthen Champions League squad

Roberto Mancini has confirmed today that Manchester City’s number one transfer target in the summer will be Cesc Fabregas, sparking a bidding war with Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he will do everything in his power to stop Fabregas from leaving in the summer but now Manchester City have entered the equation alongside Barcelona, a bidding war could lead to Arsenal receiving a huge sum for their captain.

Pep Guardiola has a €40m transfer budget for next season and it is believed Barcelona are willing to use all of it to lure Fabregas to the Nou Camp, but Manchester City’s endless wealth suggests Arsenal could be looking at a valuation something in the region of £45m.

€40m is around £35m and Manchester City would have to offer more than Barcelona in terms of transfer fee and wages, as Fabregas is known to be keen on a move back to his boyhood club.

Should Barcelona and Manchester City approach Arsenal in the summer, it would have to be an irresistible offer from Manchester City to convince Fabregas to swap the Catalan shores for the Manchester rain.

But Sheikh Mansour will be prepared to do what it takes to lure Fabregas to Eastlands and the fact they have declared the Spaniard their number one target is ominous news for Barcelona and fantastic news for Arsenal.

Roberto Mancini will not stop at Fabregas though and is also chasing Zlatan Ibrahimovich.

Mancini said: “If Zlatan wants to come to City, I would immediately find a place for him.”

Ibrahimovich has won eight league titles in the past eight seasons and the Swede could prove to be the lucky charm that Manchester City need to land their first Premier League title.

Early prices for next season’s Premier League title have been released and Manchester City are 11/2 to win the 2011/12 Premier League title.

A £10 stake on Manchester City winning next season’s Premier League would return £65. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of a free bet.
