Liverpool with all the support following demolition job at Fulham
Liverpool were the focus of a huge gamble last night after demolishing Fulham 5-2 at Craven Cottage.
With the 2010/11 Premier League title all but sorted, the focus of punters has turned to next season’s title race and Ladbrokes released their 2011/12 Premier League title odds yesterday.
Having opened up at 16/1, Liverpool are now just 10/1 to win the Premier League as punters pile on Kenny Dalglish to steer his side towards a title charge.
At the start of this season Liverpool were 12/1 to win the Premier League title and punters have snapped up the 16/1 value leaving Liverpool shorter to win next season’s title than they were this season.
Yesterday we suggested all the value was in backing Liverpool for the title but now the 16/1 price has gone, we’ve had to reassess the Premier League odds.
As a result of Liverpool’s huge support, Manchester City have been lengthened out to 11/2 from 5/1 and they now look like the value bet with Manchester United available at 6/4, Chelsea at 7/4 and Arsenal 7/1.
Except Manchester City still have ground to make up on Arsenal on the basis of this season’s results and with Arsene Wenger under immense pressure to improve the Arsenal squad, you have to say Arsenal look a huge price at 7/1.
Unlike Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal consistently challenge at the top of the league before a late collapse leaves Chelsea and Manchester United fighting it out for the title, but it looks as if Wenger has one last year to prove Arsenal are capable of winning the title.
Wenger is now a man under pressure and one more season without a trophy will hasten his Arsenal exit.
Should Wenger be given a transfer budget he will have to spend it and a stronger Arsenal side will always be in the mix for the title.
A £10 stake on Arsenal winning the Premier League title would return £80. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
