Karim Benzema set for Real Madrid exit as Arsenal circle

Despite once again ruling out a summer of massive spending, Arsene Wenger could be set to finally flex Arsenal’s financial muscle.

The Metro are reporting that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could be on his way to the Emirates in a £25 million deal.

Apparently, the Gunners are already in high-level talks with the Spanish giants after Real boss Jose Mourinho refused to guarantee Benzema first-team football next term.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of the Real first-team for much of the season and is thought to prefer a move to Arsenal over other European sides such as Juventus who are also interested in securing his signature.

There have been constant rumours about Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner’s possible exit from the Emirates and Benzema is seen by Wenger as a perfect replacement – assuming the frugal boss can reach a deal with Real.

The Gunners are currently fourth favourites behind Manchester United, Chelsea and FA Cup winners Manchester City at 7/1 to win the Premier League next season.

United are slight favourites at 6/4, just ahead of the Blues at 7/4, while City can be backed at 11/2 to win their first Premier League title.

With four teams who are more than capable of winning the league, there is plenty of value to be found at this early stage before the big summer spending starts.

A £10 stake on Arsenal winning the Premier League would return £70. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
