Iker the Octopus makes his Champions League prediction

Published:

Iker the Octopus was right with two of his three predictions in the recent series of matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona and he has now made his mind up on which team will win the Champions League final.

The octopus correctly suggested that the La Liga meeting between the two Spanish giants would end in a draw and that Real Madrid would lift the Copa del Rey.

His 100 per cent streak was ended when he chose Real Madrid to qualify for the Champions League final as it was Barcelona who triumphed over the two legs.

And Iker is going against Barcelona again as after 20 intense minutes he has suggested that Manchester United will win the Champions League.

Manchester United’s odds are 13/8 to lift the Champions League trophy, while it is 11/4 that they beat Barcelona inside the 90 minutes.

To help Iker make his pick, mussels were placed in two containers and the octopus eventually made his way to the one which featured the Manchester Unite club crest.

Manchester United are unbeaten in the Champions League this season and maintaining this record through the final would also seal Sir Alex Ferguson’s place in the competition’s history.

Sir Alex has already won the Champions League twice with Manchester United in 1999 and 2008 and a third success would put him equal with Bob Paisley, who won the competition with Liverpool in 1977, 1978 and 1981.

Barcelona are 1/2 in the Champions League odds to lift the trophy for the third time in six seasons, with manager Pep Guardiola looking for a second title in three seasons.

Meanwhile, it is 1/1 that Barcelona triumph without the need for extra time or penalties.

A £30 stake on Manchester United beating Barcelona 1-0 would return £165. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
