Huge support for QPR in the betting after FA make decision
The Football Association have found Queens Park Rangers guilty on two counts surrounding their controversial signing of Alejandro Faurlin, but the West London club have escaped a points penalty.
Neil Warnock and his QPR side were left sweating despite securing the title at Watford last weekend, but Warnock can now begin planning for life in the Premier League following the FA’s decision.
When the Football Association confirmed yesterday that the Championship trophy would be heading to Loftus Road for the final game of the season, many believed that QPR would be crowned champions today and they have been subsequently proved right.
Leeds United will be wanting to upset the party though and with a very faint chance of a play-off place – they need a six-goal swing to oust Nottingham Forest – Simon Grayson’s side will be attempting to spoil the party.
Leeds are 11/4 to win today’s match but having opened at 11/10, QPR are know trading at 10/11 to win the final game of the season as the club continues to celebrate.
Having lost just once at Loftus Road all season, QPR will be expected to see out their season in style before lifting the Championship trophy later, but whatever happens in the 90 minutes with Leeds, QPR fans will be happy enough knowing they will be playing Premier League football next season.
There is always the option of one of the teams vying for promotion appealing against the decision – whoever finishes third out of Cardiff and Swansea are the most likely – and the way the FA have dealt with this situation means we’re unlikely to have heard the end of it.
But for today the Hoops will be rejoicing as they prepare to return to the Premier League for the first time since 1995, and having been the standout team all season, it’s only right that they are allowed to enjoy it.
