Huddersfield vs Peterborough – Posh to star in play-offs again

| 28.05.2011

Peterborough may be the underdogs to win the League One play-off final with Huddersfield, but with Craig Mackail-Smith in their ranks they can secure an immediate promotion back to the Championship.

Match Odds

Posh have secured promotion on both of their previous appearances in the play-offs in 1992 and 2000 and are 15/8 in the League One odds to beat Huddersfield inside the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, they already have a play-off victory over Huddersfield on their record when the pair clashed over two legs at the semi-final stage in 1992.

But Peterborough face a tough task to secure victory, as Huddersfield are still to lose a league game in 2011, a run that has reached 27 games.

Huddersfield are 7/5 to beat Peterborough and have the same squad available to manager Lee Clark to that which edged past Bournemouth on penalties in the semi finals.

The pair have already clashed on three occasions this season, sharing one victory apiece and the other game ending as a draw.

It is 23/10 that the final is all square after 90 minutes, which would mean that extra time and even penalties may be required to decide which team is promoted to the Championship.

First Goalscorer

Peterborough were the top scoring league club in England at the end of the regular season, while Mackail-Smith finished top of the scoring charts in League One.

He has since scored in both legs of the semi-final success over the MK Dons and is now just two away from racking up 100 for Peterborough.

Mackail-Smith is 5/1 to open the scoring in the League One play-off final, while it is 6/4 that he finds the target at any time within the 90 minutes.

A £30 stake on Mackail-Smith scoring first would return £150. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
