Forget it Chelsea, Mourinho pledges future to Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho has ruled himself out of the running to become the next Chelsea manager by declaring his intentions to stay at Real Madrid for the next 10 years.

Speaking to Guillem Balague, Mourinho told Sky Sport’s Spanish correspondent that he will be in charge of Real Madrid next season and he plans to stay with the Spanish giants for the next 10 years.

While Balague admitted the 10-year stay is unlikely, Mourinho’s decision to stay in charge of Real comes as a huge blow to the Chelsea fans who were hoping to see their former manager in the Stamford Bridge dugout next season.

Mourinho is still in the next Chelsea manager betting but is currently trading at 10/1 and finds his protégée Andre Villas-Boas ahead of him in the betting at 4/1.

Reports have suggested that Mourinho was offered the Chelsea job by Abramovich but turned it down.

Abramovich is yet to convince Guus Hiddink to take on the role and while the current Turkey manager still trades as the 2/1 favourite in the next Chelsea manager betting, his reluctance to take on the role is there for everyone to see.

It is believed that Hiddink is advising Abramovich on Ancelotti’s replacement and the Dutchman is pushing hard for his fellow countryman Marco van Basten.

Despite attracting a lot of support yesterday, van Basten is now a stable 5/2 to shot to replace Ancelotti but it seems Abramovich is reluctant to employ a manager who is yet to win a trophy in his managerial career.

The 33-year-old Villas-Boas looks the pick of the next Chelsea manager betting and the manager who is in the mould of Mourinho, would be a popular appointment with the Chelsea fans.

Villas-Boas’ Porto side were invincible in the league this season and wrapped up the treble with victory in the Portuguese Cup.
