Each-way value removed from Dante Stakes by doubtful runners
Published:All of the each-way value seems set to be taken out of the Dante odds as both Roderic O’Connor and Genius Beast are unlikely to run at York.
Roderic O’Connor has already run in the 2000 Guineas this season and will miss York to either head to the Irish equivalent at the Curragh or even straight to the Derby next month at Epsom.
The decision over Genius Beast is not so clear cut as Godolphin are still to make a final decision over whether to run their horse at York or send him to France for the Prix Hocquart at Longchamp.
Genius Beast is a fine each-way bet for the Dante at 10/1 and will certainly go off at shorter odds if the final decision concludes that he should run at York.
The horse already has a group victory under his belt and should have no troubles stepping up to middle distance trips now that he is a three-year-old.
If the horse swerves the Dante, the race seems to be between the three market leaders and based on what they have achieved so far, Seville looks the horse to beat.
Aidan O’Brien may not be running Roderic O’Connor, but in Seville he has another horse with a live chance.
Seville is confirmed to run in the Dante and is 2/1 in the York odds to win a race widely seen as a strong preparation for the Derby.
The only doubt is that the Dante represents Seville’s first run of the year, but the fact he has already finished second in Grade One company is form that far eclipses his main rivals.
Carlton House is also 2/1 to win the Dante and World Domination is 9/4, although both horses have only previously competed in maiden class, which means they will have to substantially step up in class to win at York.
