Chelsea to avoid making same transfer errors as last season

Neymar and Romelu Lukaku appear to be Chelsea’s leading two transfer targets ahead of improving their squad to make a bigger challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Chelsea are 2/1 in the Premier League odds to win the title next season and currently having no manager is not preventing them making progress in their transfer dealings.

It is believed that they are targeting five new recruits in total as alongside Neymar and Lukaku, Chelsea have been linked with exciting Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez and Argentine Sergio Aguero, who recently stated his desire to leave Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile on a lesser note Dutch defender Gregory Van der Wiel and highly-rated Belgian Kevin de Bruyne are also on the radar.

Five new signings could be significant at Chelsea and show that they have learnt their lessons from last summer, when they only brought in Yossi Benayoun and Ramires, while letting five senior players go.

And it was this lack of recognised depth in the squad that was largely considered to be their undoing this season, as they appeared to struggle when the likes of Frank Lampard, John Terry and Didier Drogba were troubled by injury or illness.

Another five senior players could be on their way out of Stamford Bridge this summer as the new faces arrive, with Chelsea reportedly open to offers for Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira, Henrique Hilario, Yuri Zhirkov and Nicolas Anelka, who only has one year remaining on his contract.

Some of Chelsea’s younger stars could also be on their way out, most notably Gael Kakuta and Jack Cork, while Fabio Borini is close to joining Parma after seeing his contract expire.

A £30 stake on Chelsea winning the Premier League title for a fourth time next season would return £60. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
