Azarenka and Sharpova face off in a bid to prove French Open form
The Internazionali BNL d’Italia is the last chance for the players to find their form before the French Open, and it offers punters a chance to make the most of the French Open betting.
Today Rome will host a quarter-final between the French Open favourite and the people’s favourite and it will have a huge influence on the French Open odds.
In a repeat of April’s Sony Ericsson Open final, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova go head-to-head for a likely semi-final with Caroline Wozniacki and the Belorussian is favoured at 1/2 to repeat her straight sets victory in Miami.
The two have met five times previously, all on hard courts, and Azarenka’s win put the head-to-head stats in her favour with three wins to Sharapova’s two.
They have never met on clay but Azarenka has reached the final in two of her last three tournaments while Sharapova is playing in just her second clay tournament this year so we’re tipping Azarenka to win 2-1 at 3/1.
Sam Stosur vs Francesca Schiavone
We suggested yesterday that Stosur is a big price to win the tournament this week at 11/2 and should the Australian negotiate her way past Schiavone – she is 4/6 to do so – Stosur would be highly fancied to be in the final.
Schiavone beat Stosur on her way to French Open success last year but Stosur has five head-to-head wins to the Italian’s two, and we fancy the Australian to win 2-0 at 7/4.
Caroline Wozniacki vs Jelena Jankovic
Jankovic was unbeatean against the world number one until the start of this year and Wozniacki has won both of the matches the two have met in this year.
With that in mind Wozniacki is great value at 1/3 to beat Jankovic and even better value at 10/11 to win 2-0.
A £10 stake on Sam Stosur winning the Internazionali BNL d’Italia would return £65. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
