Arsene Wenger set to sell Fabregas in bid to end trophy drought

Arsene Wenger is preparing to make wholesale changes to his side this summer – starting with the sale of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.

According to the Sunday Mirror Arsenal – who are 7/1 to win the Premier League next season – are prepared to sell their captain to the Champions League finalists for around £50 million.

It’s believed that Wenger is also set to take a hard line with Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri who both only have one year left on their contracts – if a deal can’t be reached with the players they will be sold during the summer months to maximize their value.

Meanwhile, The Sunday Express believes Wenger is finally prepared to spend big on English players.

He’s quoted as saying: “I have said the price for [English players] is always very high. But I like English players, they are good.

“So if we have to spend a lot of money we will do it if we are convinced. On one player we can afford it, but it depends what will happen.”

The players Wenger will move for are thought to be long-time target Gary Cahill from Bolton and Football Writers’ Player of the Year Scott Parker.

With Parker admitting he will leave West Ham following their relegation and Cahill stating earlier in the season that he’s ambitious to test himself at a higher level, these are deals that certainly could happen.
If the rumors are true then getting on Arsenal at 7/1 to win the Premier League could be well worth backing.
