Amazing Beauty to land Musidora honours at York

Aidan O’Brien has already unleashed one star filly this season and another decent prospect can land victory on the opening day of York’s Dante Meeting in the Musidora Stakes.

Wonder of Wonders was mightily impressive in landing the Cheshire Oaks at Chester and this victory has put her at the head of the list to be the leading filly of the season.

Now it is Amazing Beauty’s turn to show what she can do and 3/1 looks a big price in the York odds that she can triumph in a relatively weak renewal of the Musidora.

Amazing Beauty, like Wonder of Wonders, has enjoyed a preparation run ahead of a step up into Group company and she should certainly improve for this run.

Her first start of the season came when making all on the polytrack at Dundalk, while she also arrives at York with the added advantage of having Ryan Moore on board.

Moore and O’Brien teamed up for four good winners at Chester and doubts over Amazing Beauty’s main rivals only enhance her chances further.

Arizona Jewel is the 6/4 favourite and bids to give Henry Cecil a tenth Musidora victory, but this is a short price for a horse that has effectively only won in maiden company to date.

Barefoot Lady looks a far more solid challenger at 5/2 in the York odds and brings the best previous form to the Group Three contest, having finished fifth in the 1000 Guineas on her latest start.

However, she has stamina to prove on her first start over 1m2f, while it remains unclear whether she would have fully recovered from her hard race in the Classic, which was only ten days ago.
