Accrington vs Stevenage – Home form can make this a tense tussle

Published:

Only champions Chesterfield can boast a better home record than Accrington Stanley this season and Stevenage are in for a tough time despite their 1/6 odds to qualify.

Back in February two late goals from Accrington salvaged a point at Stevenage’s Broadhall Way and with 90 minutes ahead of them at their favoured ground, John Coleman’s side can resurrect this play-off tie.

Match Odds

Accrington are a massive 11/10 to beat Stevenage on Friday night and three of their four home ties with their opponents have ended in a home win.

Stevenage know they face a battle and Graham Westley’s side are 12/5 to win on Friday night.

Accrington are yet to win 2-0 at home this season but have won eight of their last nine home games by at least a two-goal margin and extra-time beckons.

Accrington are 11/2 to win by two goals and 7/2 to qualify, but the real value is in backing the two sides to win in extra-time or penalties.

Stanley are 16/1 to win after extra-time and 20/1 to win on penalties while Stevenage are 20/1 to win on penalties and 22/1 to win after extra-time.

Total Goals

The two sides have only met nine times in their history but six of those games have produced over 2.5 goals and a 3-1 victory for Accrington is 18/1 while over 2.5 goals is 1/1.

Terry Gornell will be expected to fire Stanley back into this tie and he is 11/2 to get the first goal but the better bet is backing his teammate Sean McConville to get the first goal at 8/1.

Stevenage have managed just 25 goals in their 23 league away games this season so back Byron Harrison to get their only goal and he is 9/4 to score at any time.

Punters are in for a thriller at the Crown Ground and should make the most of Ladbrokes’ in-play football betting.
