Tottenham vs Real Madrid – Liverpool result offers Spurs hope

Trailing 4-0 from the first leg, Tottenham will be hoping they can channel the spirit of Liverpool’s 2009 Champions League side that registered a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid at Anfield – although at 25/1 to qualify, it would take more than a Steven Gerrard rescue act to save Spurs.

Qualification may be unlikely but Tottenham are unbeaten at home in eight European games and with a point to prove, Spurs look the pick at 13/8 to win on Wednesday night.
Understandably Real Madrid are favourites at 6/4, but with such a big lead from the first leg, and a huge game against Barcelona at the Bernabeu on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s side may take their foot of the gas.
Redknapp’s side will find it difficult to make a poorer start than they did in the Bernabeu, and with a packed White Hart Lane ready to enjoy the evening, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a Spurs win.
