Nine players staring at Liverpool exit this summer

Alberto Aquilani tops a list of potentially nine players who could be on their way out of Liverpool in the summer as the club hope to launch a mighty raid on the transfer market to challenge for the Premier League title again next season.

Liverpool fans have had to endure a below-par last two campaigns by their standards, with the club battling to secure a top-six finish and Europa League football, rather than challenging for the title and Champions League competition.

Kenny Dalglish’s arrival has boosted morale and optimism around the club and plans are already being made on what squad improvements to make ahead of next season.

It is rumoured that Dalglish will be handed a transfer kitty of £50m, but he should have no problem topping this up by selling some of the players considered to be deadwood within the squad.

Aquilani appears to have enjoyed a decent season in Italy on loan at Juventus and Liverpool will surely want to recoup at least half of the £17m they paid Roma for his services in 2009.

Paul Konchesky, Philipp Degan, Emiliano Insua and Nabil El Zhar are other Liverpool players currently out on loan, who would be allowed to leave, as would Milan Jovanovic, who has found his first-team chances limited this season.

Meanwhile, it is also rumoured that Joe Cole, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and David N’Gog could also be allowed to move on from Anfield if the price is right.

This would give Liverpool the ammunition in the transfer market to make a big effort at bolstering their squad, with two wingers potentially top of the shopping list, alongside a centre back, left back and some central midfield creativity.

Liverpool appear likely to finish sixth this season and are at home to Newcastle next, with Premier League odds placing Liverpool at 2/5 to secure maximum points.

A £30 stake on Liverpool beating Newcastle 2-0 would return £180. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
