Mourinho installed as the favourite to replace Ancelotti at Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti’s days as Chelsea manager are numbered and while it’s yet to be confirmed, Ancelotti’s told reporters before the Manchester United game in midweek that his Chelsea future had already been decided.

With Chelsea almost certain to end the season without a trophy, Ancelotti is on his way out of Stamford Bridge with the Roma job looking his most likely appointment.

Leaving Roman Abramovich in the search for a new manager and Jose Mourinho is currently favoured by Ladbrokes at 7/4 to be the next permanent Chelsea manager.

The next three weeks are critical in Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid career and the four ties with Barcelona will define whether or not he is Real Madrid manager next season.

Having failed to win the Champions League in three full seasons as Chelsea manager, Mourinho may not be high on Roman Abramovich’s list as he searches for the manager that can guide Chelsea to a Champions League win.

Guus Hiddink (3/1 to be next Chelsea manager) is currently guiding Turkey up the FIFA world rankings but after a short spell as Chelsea manager in 2009, Abramovich would love to get the Dutchman back at Stamford Bridge.

Hiddink stated that he would offer his resignation if Turkey failed to win their two qualifiers against Austria and Belgium after a poor start to their European Championships qualifying campaign.

Having beaten Austria it may be that Belgium stand in the way of HIddink and Chelsea and June’s game could have a massive bearing on Chelsea’s future.

Hiddink must be number one on Abramovich’s list after guiding Russia to the 2008 European Championship semi-final and the Dutchman would be a huge coup for Abramovich after turning down a number of club jobs in the last 10 years.
