Money for van Basten after Hiddink advises Chelsea to sign Dutchman

There are two things that are certain to happen at Chelsea come the end of the season – they will end the season trophyless and Frank Arnesen will relinquish his role as sporting director.

Roman Abramovich offered the sporting director’s role to current Turkey manager Gus Hiddink on the weekend but while reports suggest Hiddink will turn the role down in favour of remaining at Turkey, the Dutchman has reportedly advised Abramovich to appoint Marco van Basten.

Rumours over Carlo Ancelotti’s future are strife and there is plenty of money being bandied about in the next Chelsea manager betting with van Basten now 7/1 to become the next Chelsea manager with Hiddink priced at 3/1.

While it is not certain, Ancelotti seems destined to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after failing to provide Roman Abramovich with the Champions League trophy he craves so dearly.

There is no doubt that Abramovich is a huge fan of Hiddink and the Dutchman would be the Russian’s number one choice to take charge at Chelsea, but having turned down offers of club management for the past 11 years, Hiddink looks set to snub Chelsea again.

But not before advising Abramovich on the best predecessor for Ancelotti it seems and reports suggest Hiddink has recommended two fellow Dutchman to Abramovich.

All the money has come for van Basten but Hiddink has also thrown Frank Rijkaard’s name into the mix and the former Barcelona manager is 9/1 to be the next Chelsea manager.

Both van Basten and Rijkaard are currently out of work and could walk straight into the Chelsea job at the end of the season, but Jose Mourinho continues to remain the favourite at 2/1 to be the next Chelsea manager despite being in charge of Real Madrid.

A £10 stake on Marco van Basten being the next Chelsea manager would return £80. New customers can sign up here to receive a free football bet worth up to £30.
