Money for the Rocket after he demolishes Dale in opening round

Ronnie O’Sullivan is now challenging for favouritism in the World Snooker Championship betting after easing into the second round with a 10-2 victory over Dominic Dale.

After deciding to travel to Sheffield and take part in the biggest snooker tournament of the calendar, O’Sullivan delighted fans and punters by demolishing Dale and is now the 5/1 joint favourite to win the tournament.

O’Sullivan had drifted out to 8/1 pre-tournament but Mark Selby and John Higgins now find a third contender challenging for favouritism in the World Championship Snooker betting.

Both Higgins and Selby open their challenge on Wednesday and both are short priced favourites to progress into the second round.

John Higgins vs Stephen Lee

Higgins is the 2/7 favourite to beat Stephen Lee and the Scotsman holds a 5-3 head-to-head record over his opponent and has won the last three matches between the two.

Only once have they met in the World Championship way back in 1999 when Higgins won 13-6 in the quarter-final, and the Scot can register an equally comfortable victory and is 10/11 with a -3.5 handicap.

Both the 10-5 and 10-6 scorelines in favour of Higgins are priced up at 6/1, but we’re tipping up a 10-4 victory for Higgins at 13/2.

Mark Selby vs Jimmy Robertson

Selby takes on qualifier Robertson in his opening match and the world number 61 should prove no difficulty for Selby who is currently trading at 1/12 to win.

Robertson will be making his Crucible debut but beat Ken Doherty, Tony Drago and Xiao Guodong to qualify and is 6/5 to win with a +4.5 frame advantage.

Selby’s class should tell though and we’re backing the world number three to overcome the handicap at 8/13 and we fancy him to win the match 10-2 at 7/1.

A £10 stake on Selby beating Robertson 10-2 would return £80. New customers can sign up here to receive a free snooker bet worth up to £30.
