McDowell on the drift after being paired alongside Woods

Tiger Woods will be joined by Robert Allenby and Graeme McDowell for the first two rounds of the Masters as he looks to prove the doubters wrong.

Woods is a big drifter in the Masters betting and is out to 12/1, and the world number seven has a lot to prove this week although the chance to avenge his November play-off defeat to McDowell over the first 36 holes around Augusta.

McDowell has had a stunning 18 months in which he has climbed ahead of Woods in the rankings, but since the draw has been made, McDowell’s Masters odds are out to 50/1 from 40/1.

It’s hard to understand why McDowell has drifted since the pairings announcement, and considering McDowell came from four shots behind to win the play-off with Woods – sinking a 20-foot putt for the win! – the Ulsterman will not be fazed by the pairing.

At 50/1 McDowell offers incredible value and while the markets continue to underestimate the talent of the Ulsterman, punters can clean up.

While Woods and McDowell offer a big draw, arguable the pairing of the first two rounds is the Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood and Matt Kuchar pairing which will tee off at 16.19pm.

The world number one and two will relish the chance to play with each other and after blowing a final round lead last year, Westwood can use Kaymer to get off to a great start and 16/1 could be a huge price for the Englishman.

Kuchar’s consistency makes him a strong 6/1 chance for a top five finish, but Kaymer is fancied by many this week and the quality of the two players around him make him a strong bet at 20/1.

Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy make for arguably the most exciting pairing, and based on the Masters odds, McIlroy (33/1 to win) should edge his American counterpart (66/1).
