Holloway backs Campbell to fire Blackpool to safety

Blackpool may be 4/6 in the Premier League odds to be relegated, but Ian Holloway remains a fresh DJ Campbell can provide the goals over the final seven games to fire them to safety.

Campbell has missed Blackpool’s last three games through suspension after getting sent off in the loss at Wolves last month, but is in line to make a comeback in the vital home clash with Arsenal.

The striker already has nine league goals to his name this season and Holloway is banking on Campbell to regain his scoring touch since his absence.

Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette: “DJ will be fresh going into the final seven games and probably desperate to show what a good player he is. He is a different type of player and his goals have been sadly missed.

“He was scoring goals and doing well before the ban so hopefully we want him to pick up where he left off – we need him to.”

Blackpool have lost eight of their last 11 Premier League games to fall within one point of the relegation places and will be hoping to improve upon this sequence against Arsenal.

Holloway has given Blackpool a target of 39 points that he deems will be enough to survive, which means they need two wins from their last seven games.

It is 11/2 in the Premier League betting that Blackpool beat Arsenal and they may take confidence from the fact that Arsene Wenger’s team have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions and none of the last five.

Arsenal’s odds to beat Blackpool are 4/9 and they must win if they are to stand any chance of catching Manchester United and winning the Premier League title.
