Frankel’s 2000 Guineas entry ensures good each-way value

Opposing Frankel in the 2000 Guineas is tough based on the strength of his form to date, but Roderic O’Connor may well be worth some each-way support following the news that Ryan Moore will take the ride at Newmarket.

Frankel is 1/2 in the 2000 Guineas odds and heads to Newmarket with a 100 per cent winning record from five runs.

The latest of these came in comfortable fashion in the Greenham Stakes and on paper it appears that a repeat of this performance is liable to be enough to secure victory in the opening Classic of the season.

Punters looking to take on Frankel may have been disappointed to hear that a pelvic injury has forced Godolphin to withdraw Dubai Prince from the 2000 Guineas.

However, each-way value can be found elsewhere, with Roderic O’Connor and Pathfork both looking the most likely to mount a challenge.

Roderic O’Connor chased home Frankel in the Dewhurst Stakes last year and has since landed a Group One in France.

The booking of three-time champion jockey Moore must go down as a plus in his favour, alongside the fact that he is trained by Aidan O’Brien and 7/1 seems decent value that he will at worst finish in the first three.

Pricewise has also highlighted Roderic O’Connor as a decent bet in the 2000 Guineas.

Like Frankel, Pathfork will arrive at Newmarket having never been beaten and like Roderic O’Connor is 7/1 in the 2000 Guineas betting.

Pathfork won all three starts as a two-year-old, which includes a triumph over subsequent Racing Post Trophy victor Casamento.

Trainer Jessica Harrington has also indicated that the horse has progressed well over the winter and is being prepared especially with the 2000 Guineas in mind.

A £30 stake on Pathfork winning the 2000 Guineas would return £210. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
