Everton 11/5 to finish above Liverpool this season

Everton may not have anything seriously left to play for this season, but motivation should still be high as the chance is present to finish higher than Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

David Moyes’ team are one of a select few who are not involved in some sort of end of season battle, whether it be for the Premier League title, one of the four Champions League qualifying spots or to avoid relegation.

However, there is still the small matter of bragging rights over Liverpool to play for and Everton fans will end the campaign slightly happy if their club can finish above their neighbours.

This is something that has not happened since 2005, although Everton did come close last season when finishing two points behind Liverpool.

A four-point gap currently exists between the two with seven Premier League games remaining, although Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is confident that the deficit can be overhauled.

It is 11/5 in the Premier League odds that Everton do finish above Liverpool this season and Howard believes that his team’s recent improvement in form can be continued until the end of the campaign.

The American said: “The fact we are in seventh place and nipping on the heels of Liverpool is a great thing. It was only four weeks ago we were drifting down near the bottom somewhere.

“I think realistically we can finish higher. We have the ability to do that and we have our sights set on Liverpool.”

Liverpool’s odds are 1/3 to finish above Everton for the sixth successive season and they arguably have the easier home games of the pair remaining, which tend to present the best opportunity to secure victories.

However, Everton are unbeaten in five Premier League games, while Liverpool have lost two of their last four.

A £20 stake on Liverpool beating Manchester City 1-0 in their next Premier League game would return £120. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of free bets totalling up to £60.
