Ding vs Trump – Trump has the attack to reach maiden Crucible final

Ding Junhui and Judd Trump are both in unchartered waters at the Snooker World Championship having reached the semi finals for the first time and preference is for the latter to progress to the final.

Trump fulfilled some of his undoubted potential when winning the China Open earlier this month and this made him the one to watch for many fans upon arriving at the Crucible.

He justified this optimism when defeating reigning champion Neil Robertson in the first round and has since followed up with further comprehensive victories over Martin Gould and Graeme Dott.

Therefore, it may come as a surprise that Trump is the 6/5 outsider in the snooker betting to beat Ding.

Ding has already won one major tournament this year when landing the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters in January and is now the first ever Chinese player to reach the last four at the Crucible.

He is certainly the more complete of the two players and should he implement the right strategy he would have a solid chance of slowing down Trump, bearing in mind the change in tournament format to the best of 35 frames.

Trump only really knows how to attack and has relied on a high long-pot success rate to blow away opponents so far.

The 21-year-old will certainly come out all guns blazing and if can quickly establish an early lead, he may become tough to peg back, as Dott found out in the quarter finals.

However, he must begin missing at some point and although Ding is also predominantly an attacking player, if he can play some good safety in the first session and take the chances that he is sure to get, he could also place added pressure on Trump.

Ding is the 4/6 favourite in the snooker odds to beat Trump.

A £30 stake on Trump beating Ding 17-12 would return £420. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
