Continued support for Mickelson as Masters gets underway

Phil Mickelson is chasing his fifth Major and fourth green jacket at Augusta this week, and the world number four seems to be everyone’s pick to win this week.

Mickelson is dominating the Masters betting at 7/1 with Tiger Woods, although not friendless, is a fair way behind Mickelson with Masters odds of 12/1.

Tiger was the best backed entrant with Ladbrokes yesterday after several five figure bets were placed on the four-time Masters winner, and while his form may not hold up, he sure has the class to put in a strong performance.

Ian Poulter doesn’t believe Tiger will finish in the top five this week – he is 7/4 for a top five finish – but based on his performances in Masters, and on his performance in the 2010 Masters when he finished fourth in his first tournament back since his personal affair, Tiger cannot be written off.

Neither can Ian Poulter whose desire to win the Major tournaments sets him apart from many, and while the Masters hasn’t been his strongest Major, he could be a huge price at 50/1.

One man who is a huge price at 50/1 is Graeme McDowell and those punters who think he will be fazed by playing with Tiger should think again.

In November, Tiger was leading the Chevron Challenge by four shots before McDowell rallied to beat him in a play-off, and as the world number five, McDowell’s Masters odds are frankly disrespectful.

It’s going to be a pulsating week in Georgia and Ladbrokes are offering 23 Masters betting markets, including in-play betting, there is plenty of value to be found at Ladbrokes.com.

A £20 stake on Mickelson winning the Masters would return £160. New customers can sign up here to get £60 in free bets.
