Barack Obama popular in US Election betting

Published:

Barack Obama’s odds of winning the 2012 US Presidential Election have been cut by Ladbrokes.

A new account was opened today to place a significant four figure bet on Obama at 4/6 prompting the firm to cut him to 8/11. Mitt Romney is the next shortest candidate at 7/1 with Sarah Palin now drifting out to 16/1.

The biggest loser in the book is still Chris Christie (State Governor of New Jersey) who despite not declaring himself a runner has attracted a £2,000 bet at 50/1. He now trades at 16/1 after further support.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “A new customer has weighed in with a hefty bet on Obama and we’ve responded by cutting the odds again. Christie remains a six-figure loser for us and despite not knowing the full story about his intentions we have to keep him on-side.”
