Webb can down Reid on way to winning Prizefighter

Tobias Webb has become more of a complete boxer since joining the professional ranks and although he has perhaps the toughest first-round bout he could have asked for, he still may be the best bet to win Prizefighter.

Webb is 6/1 in the Prizefighter betting and despite having just four professional fights to his name still looks the value, particularly based on his previous victory over former Prizefighter winner Patrick Mendy.

The one big concern that some punters may have is that he is yet to win a fight by knockout, but it is believed that this is not because of a lack of punching power.

Webb faces arguably his biggest challenge in the opening round against Robin Reid, who is a former Olympic bronze medallist.

Reid is 7/2 to win Prizefighter and has stepped into the ring with the likes of Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch and Jeff Lacy in the past.

However, now a 40-year-old, Reid has only fought professionally once in four years and it remains to be seen if his stamina will see out the fast tempo of three fights in one evening.

Carl Dilks is also more experienced than the majority of the participants in Prizefighter Super-Middleweights II and is the tournament favourite at 9/4.

Dilks is in the easier side of the draw, but he was battered by James DeGale in his last fight, which may have damaged some of his confidence.

Furthermore, Dilks’ counter-punching style may not be best suited to the Prizefighter format, as it can take him three rounds to work his way into some of his fights.

Of the other contenders, Joe Ainscough’s brawling style may be a good match for Prizefighter and he is 16/1 to win the £32,000 first prize, while three-fight Rocky Fielding is stepping down from light-heavyweight and could be the darkhorse at 7/1.
