Six-time winner Woods is a big price at 10/1 to win this week

It may be 18 months since he last emerged triumphant from a PGA Tour event, but this week’s WGC Cadillac Championship is there for Tiger Wood’s taking.

The six-time winner of this event loves this course – he claimed the course record when winning in 2006 at 23-under-par – and at 10/1, he’s offers plenty of value considering a fully fit Tiger would be as short as 3/1.

With Phil Mickelson and Graeme McDowell joining Tiger for at least the first two rounds, punters and fans are in for a spectacle and Tiger is the 6/4 favourite – Mickelson and McDowell are both 15/8 – to register the best first round score of the three.

But having finished no worse than T6 in his two stroke play starts this year, McDowell may be the man to watch this week and he offers plenty of value at 14/1.

Mickelson is also a previous winner of this event – he finished 19-under in 2009 – but at the same price as McDowell offers very little value considering his current form.

Of the Americans, Nick Watney (20/1) is the man most likely to rival Tiger at the top of the scoreboard come Sunday evening, and his second place finish in 2009 suggests Watney can handle the Miami course.

But more impressively, Watney has finished no worse than T6 in his first three stroke play events of this year and the American is 7/2 for a top five finish.

Martin Kaymer earned the world number one title in Arizona a fortnight ago and despite his loss to Luke Donald in the final of the WGC – Accenture Match Play, Kaymer joins Woods at the top of the betting at 10/1 to win this week.

Kaymer has had a win and a second place finish in just four tournaments this season, and the man who put together a run of three straight wins last year is a definite contender this week.
