Chamakh still believes Arsenal are a good bet for title

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh is convinced the Gunners still have what it takes to win the Premier League – despite being dumped out of three competitions in just over a fortnight.

The Gunners are 15/8 to win the Premier League and are just three points behind leaders Manchester United having played a game less than Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

With United going through a rough patch of form in the league after losing their last two, and a trip to the Emirates still to come, the race for the title looks set to be a lot closer than many predicted.

Speaking to the official Arsenal website, Chamakh said: “It’s true that we are currently in a difficult period: we’re out of the Carling Cup, the Champions League and now the FA Cup,”

“The final thing for us to focus on is the League and, knowing the lads and the qualities we have, I think we can win it. There are 10 games left until the end of the season, there is no longer any room for failure, we have run out of excuses as we are out of all three Cups.

“We are frustrated but we can win this title this season. It’s the right time. This is the last stretch of a long road to the title and we need to work hard.”

The first hurdle Arsenal need to overcome is a tricky trip to West Bromwich Albion this Saturday. The Gunners have already lost to the Baggies once this season, with September’s game at the Emirates finishing 3-2 to the visitors.

A repeat 3-2 win for the Baggies can be backed at a massive 40/1 this weekend.

However, despite their devastating couple of weeks, it’s hard to see the Gunners slipping up again and the 8/11 offered for them to win and keep the pressure on United looks well worth backing.
