Injury-hit Real Madrid to lose ground on Barcelona in Santander

Published:

It may be seven games since Racing Santander last took a point off Real Madrid, but considering Los Blancos are without a number of key players, Racing will be hopeful of an upset.

At 7/1 to beat Real Madrid the La Liga betting suggests Racing have their work cut-out for them, but Racing are unbeaten in their last nine home league games – the best record outside the top three – and 7/1 seems a huge price.

Especially when you consider Real Madrid will be without top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo who is sidelined for two weeks, and with just two league goals in their last four away games, Madrid’s away form certainly doesn’t warrant them being 4/9 in the betting.

Ronaldo played a huge role in Madrid’s 6-1 thumping of Santander at the Bernabeu earlier in the season, but with Ronaldo and Kaka missing, under 2.5 goals looks a great bet at 11/10.

Ronaldo was also instrumental in Madrid’s 7-0 thumping of Malaga in midweek when he claimed a hat-trick, and his loss is a huge blow for Mourinho and his side as they look to make up ground on Barcelona.

Not since February 2009 have Real Madrid managed three consecutive clean sheets away from home in the league, suggesting Madrid would have to score twice if they are to win.

The 6-1 thumping earlier in the season certainly suggests their capable but the previous five matches between these two produced only eight goals.

Both sides to score is priced at 10/11 but with Santander is such fine home form, backing Los Racinguistas to win 1-0 at a huge 12/1, or to salvage a 1-1 draw at 6/1 are the pick of the scoring markets.
