Flat racing is back! Moore favoured to take top jockey title
Flat racing fans need wait no longer as today marks the return of the flat season and there are plenty of ante-post betting markets for punters to explore in the search for value.
One market that is attracting plenty of attention is the UK Flat Jockey’s Championship betting which currently sees Ryan Moore dominating it at 1/1 to secure his fourth top jockey title.
Having ridden over 1000 winners over the past seven years, it’s easy to see why Moore dominates the betting and on the basis of last season, he’s going to need to ride around 190 winners to secure the title.
Keiran Fallon is Moore’s main rival according to the betting at 7/2, with Paul Hanagan and Richard Hughes available at 4/1 and 6/1 respectively.
Moore will be a prominent factor in all of the major flat races this year, and his likely mount, Havant, in the 2000 Guineas is already the subject of much support and is available at 8/1 to win the Guineas.
The Guineas meeting at Newmarket will host the first two Classics of the season in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas, and Frankel is a huge favourite in the 1000 Guineas betting at 10/11 to win.
Frankel is also the favourite to go on and win the Derby and is currently trading at 5/1 in the ante-post Derby betting.
Havant tops the Oaks betting market at 6/1 with White Moonstone and Khawal sharing second favouritism with Oaks odds of 10/1.
Aiden O’Brien will no doubt be a dominant force in the 2011 Flat racing scene, and the Irish trainer is 6/4 to train between 100 and 115 winners this season, 7/4 to train under 100 winners and 7/4 to train over 115 winners.
A £20 stake on Frankel winning the Derby would return £120. New customers can sign up here to get £60 in free bets.
