England vs South Africa – SA have form to walk to victory

Published:

South Africa have not put a foot wrong at the Cricket World Cup as yet and it is highly likely that they will retain their 100 per cent winning record when facing England.

Match Odds

Although arguably not seriously challenged by the West Indies and the Netherlands so far, it cannot be questioned that South Africa could not have been more impressive when sealing their successes.

South Africa are 8/15 in the Cricket World Cup betting to beat England and they must be serious favourites based on their superiority in the bowling department over their rivals at the tournament.

Graeme Smith has the luxury of calling upon three spinners on a Chennai pitch that is likely to offer more assistance than the wickets that England have played on at the tournament to date.

Meanwhile, AB de Villiers has back-to-back centuries with the bat and will be quick to pounce if England continue to display the bowling troubles that have been widely noticeable so far.

England’s betting odds are 6/4 to beat South Africa and any hopes of victory will surely rest on the shoulders of their top-four batsman.

Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell have all been in good form in the opening matches and will need to make substantial contributions again.

To Score 50

De Villiers is liable to bat in the middle overs for South Africa and will be given the job of ensuring that the run rate continues to tick over with some quick singles and the odd boundary.

He is the stand-out bet to score 50 at 7/4, which is the same price as captain Graeme Smith.

For England, Pietersen will have no trouble getting up for the game against his country of birth and averages 72 against South Africa.

He will have the task of being aggressive in his new role of opener and is also 7/4 to register a 50.

A £25 stake on Pietersen winning man of the match would return £250. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
