Capello fights back as punters flock back to betting on England

It may have been a weak Wales team that England dominated on Saturday, but Fabio Capello’s tactics were spot on as he proved the doubters wrong in a professional England performance.

England are now 1/6 to win when they next meet Wales at Wembley on September 5th, but while that seems a formality, the game in Montenegro looks like deciding the fate of England’s qualifying game.

And while people continue to underestimate the emerging Montenegro, England have been backed in to 1/12 to qualify from their group despite heading the group only on goal difference.

However the manner of England’s performance suggests Capello has found his favoured formation in the 4-3-3 set-up, and with Ashley Young proving a handful for the whole Welsh defence, Capello may have found his new star.

Young’s performance, along with Darren Bent who scored his third England goal in as many appearances makes you wonder just how Aston Villa are struggling at the bottom of the Premier League, and at 9/2 to go down, Gerard Houllier has his work cut out.

But while Houllier prepares for Aston Villa’s trip to Everton on Saturday – a game they are 16/5 to win – Fabio Capello will be looking to use England’s friendly with Ghana on Tuesday as a chance to establish this new look England side.

England are 4/7 to beat Ghana and Capello will be looking to players like Young, Scott Parker and Jack Wilshere to establish their role in the team as Capello looks to build a side for the 2012 European Championships.

England are fourth-favourites at 8/1 to win Euro 2012 but the optimism has returned after a week of controversy, and a couple of good results for Capello would see the patriotic punters return in their droves to support an English challenge.

A £20 stake on England winning Euro 2012 would return £180. New customers can sign up here for up to £60 in free bets.
