Brazil vs Scotland – Narrow defeat awaits Tartan Army

Published:

Globetrotting Brazil are back at the Emirates Stadium for their latest international friendly on Sunday afternoon, with Craig Levein’s improving Scotland side their latest opponents…

Match odds

Scotland are 7/1 to beat the five-time world champions, but while that’s a big price for a friendly match on neutral territory, the fact they have never previously defeated Brazil in nine attempts explains why the latter are 2/5 favourites.

Encouragingly for those tempted to back the draw at 7/2, Brazil’s progress under Mano Menezes has stalled somewhat of late with losses to Argentina and France, whereas Scotland have won their last two fixtures.

Brazil’s results against nations outside of the elite though have remained strong, with victories against USA, Iran and Ukraine all secured since the World Cup with minimal fuss. They are evens to lead at half-time and full-time.

Other markets

In all three of the aforementioned encounters, Menezes’ men didn’t concede and they are 5/6 to keep another clean sheet and 11/10 to win to nil, yet despite both being appealing bets, don’t expect Scotland to be embarrassed.

The Tartan Army acquitted themselves well against world champions Spain in October, losing just 3-2, and that proved something of a turning point for Levein, who was criticised for overly defensive tactics at the start of his tenure.

It’s difficult to fault his setup at the back given that they have leaked only two goals in five games outside of that Spain clash, and for that reason under 2.5 goals is perfectly feasible at 11/10, as is Brazil to win by one at 11/4.

A £20 stake on Brazil triumphing by a one-goal margin would provide a £55 profit. New customers can sign up here to get £60 in free bets.
