Bookies double-kip fears for Clarke

Published:

Ken Clarke is now even money with Ladbrokes to fall asleep at a major political conference or speech in the next year.

The bookies aren’t taking any chances after yesterday’s shut-eye cost them a four figure sum and have sent him a case of energy drinks in the hope of avoiding another payout.

The firm are also now taking bets on Clarke following in John Prescott’s footsteps and make him 4/1 to endorse his beloved Hush Puppies after he retires as an MP.

It’s 10/1 he teams up with a bed company and 12/1 he is the face of a coffee campaign.

Ladbrokes have also offered Formula 1 fan Clarke a free £200 bet on the winner of the Drivers Championship this season with all proceeds going to a charity of his choice.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “After being caught napping ourselves we’ve slashed the odds on another high profile snooze and have sent him some energy drinks as insurance.”
