Birmingham out to 9/4 but the relegation betting remains tight

Picking up a point at Goodison Park is always a strong result, but in Birmingham City’s case it could be the result that leads them into a charge up the table and away from the relegation zone.

Before Wednesday night’s game with Everton, Birmingham were in the relegation zone and available at 2/1 to do down.

But the point and a spirited second half showing has seen Birmingham’s relegation odds drift out to 9/4 and they know find themselves out of the relegation zone thanks to goal difference.

The Blues still have a game in hand on many of their rivals but their run-in sees them play six of their remaining 10 games away from home, and two of those games are trips to Chelsea and Liverpool.

The home games with Bolton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sunderland and Fulham are all winnable fixtures, but considering Birmingham’s penchant for draws this season, 9/4 could be a huge price for the Blues to go down.

While Birmingham are on the drift, punters are backing Wolves and Blackpool to be relegated and Wolves have seen their relegation odds cut to 10/11 from 11/10 thanks to Birmingham’s point.

Blackpool were 5/4 to be relegated entering their game with Chelsea on Monday night, but Ian Holloways side are now available at 1/1 after suffering what was always likely to be a defeat.

West Ham are out to 6/4 from 11/8 and Blackburn and West Brom remain steady at 3/1 and 5/4 respectively.

Stoke and Villa are not yet safe and both are available at 12/1, but those relegation odds could shorten dramatically considering Villa re just two points off the relegation zone and Stoke are three.

All the clubs involved in the relegation race are not yet defined and backing the longer odds could prove very profitable.

A £25 stake on Stoke being relegated would return £325. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
