Big names cruise through as Miami hosts dramatic Sony Ericsson

The top half may have confirmed their spots in the quarter-finals, but Sunday sees the bottom half chance their arm for a quarter-final spot.

Caroline Wozniacki set up her quarter-final with Andrea Petkovic while Sam Stosur and Maria Sharapova will contest another in the top half of the draw, but easily the most exciting quarter-final prospect in the bottom half is a battle between Kim Clijsters and Ana Ivanovic.

Clijsters is 1/12 to beat Maria Jose Martinex Sanchez and as the Belgian is ranked 31 places higher than her Spanish opponent, her path to the quarter-final should be relatively easy.

Ivanovic plays Virginie Razzano and while the Serb is 3/10 to set up her quarter-final with Clijsters, Razzano has made it difficult for the 24-year-old in the past.

Razzano won the first ever meeting between the two back in 2005, and while Ivanovic has won the last two meetings, Razzano took Ivanovic three sets in 2008 and a 2-1 win for Ivanovic looks the best bet at 11/4.

The tightest battle of today’s Sony Ericsson betting is the match involving Petra Kvitova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Both are inseparable in the betting at 5/6 to win but with a 2-0 head-to-head advantage over her opponent, Kvitova looks the pick of the day’s value to win.

Kvitova’s two wins have been by a 2-1 scoreline and punters should take advantage of the 11/4 for Kvitova to win 2-1 today.

The winner of that tie will face either Victoria Azarenka or Dominika Cibulkova in the quarter-final and considering Azarenka is the 4/9 favourite to win, it looks highly likely that the world number eight will progress.

With a 5-1 head-to-head record over Cibulkova, Azarenka should progress easily but the last three ties between the two have gone the distance and backing Azarenka to win 2-1 at 3/1 offers more value.

A £20 stake on Kvitova beating Pavlyuchenkova 2-1 would return £75. New customers can sign up here for up to £60 in free bets.
