Oldham vs Tranmere – History says the home team struggles

Published:

Oldham Athletic’s miserable scoring streak looks set to continue when they host Tranmere Rovers in League One’s Monday night game.

The Latics have scored just twice in their last 917 minutes of football and in a match where the home side has failed to score on four of the last five occasions that looks like stretching to 1,007 minutes.

Match Odds

Oldham are the 6/5 favourites because of their home advantage and the fact Tranmere haven’t won in their last five away games.

But Oldham haven’t won at home in five games either, and considering five of the last seven clashes between the two have been won by the home side, Tranmere look incredible value at 23/10.

Tranmere halted their seven-match winless streak with victory at home to Colchester last time and Les Parry’s side can upset the League One odds and move to within a point of their rivals.

Total Goals

With very little separating the two sides it’s unsurprising to see the 1-1 draw the favoured result at 11/2.

But clean sheets are the best betting angle to look at in this game and while the 0-0 draw is available at 8/1, the 1-0 win for Tranmere looks the more attractive betting proposition.

Tranmere have been reliant on Enoch Showunmi recently and their top scorer is an attractive price at 7/1 to get the first, and what could be the only goal, in Monday night’s encounter.

With the goal line set at 2.5, backing under 2.5 goals at 4/5 would provide a healthy return even if the odds aren’t that attractive to smaller stake punters.

Only twice in the last ten games has this tie produced over 2.5 goals and the 4/5 looks like a great investment.

A £20 stake on Tranmere winning 1-0 would return £180. New customers can sign up here for up to £60 in free bets.
