Bangladesh vs England – Hosts to stumble on tailored pitch

England are toying with the idea of naming three spinners in their side for the important Group B showdown with Bangladesh as they look to put one foot into the quarter finals of the Cricket World Cup.

Match Odds

Bangladesh must realistically win the game to keep their hopes of progressing from Group B alive and will not only want to put on a show in front of their own fans, but also make amends for their batting collapse against the West Indies.

All out for 58 against the West Indies, Bangladesh have a point to prove and are 10/3 to beat England.

There is every likelihood that the pitch at Chittagong will be prepared to suit Bangladesh, which will mean making it as spin-friendly as possible to suit their bowlers.

England’s betting odds are 2/9 to beat Bangladesh and with Kevin Pietersen and Stuart Broad ruled out of the tournament with injury, their big dilemma is who to name as their replacements.

Eoin Morgan will certainly replace Pietersen and the batting order with be re-jigged, but who will step into the void left by Broad is not so clear cut.

Chris Tremlett has been called up as Broad’s replacement and if England want to retain three seamers then the final spot will be filled by either him or Ajmal Shahzad.

However, with England expecting a slow, turning wicket, they may instead opt to pick a third spinner in James Tredwell to tie down the middle overs with Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy.

England have triumphed in 13 of their 14 one-day games with Bangladesh, which also includes their one previous showdown at a Cricket World Cup, in 2007.

Meanwhile, the toss could have an especially crucial impact on the end result as the team that calls correctly will almost certainly opt to bat first, which may prove a massive advantage.

A £25 stake on Swann winning man of the match against Bangladesh would return £200. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
