Published:Prior Cheltenham form has been consistent among the recent winners of the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle and this is one of the reasons why Bobs Worth will be tough to beat.
Bobs Worth has won on all three starts this season and notably the last two of these both came at Cheltenham.
The latest of these victories was in the respected Classic Novices’ Hurdle on Cheltenham Trials Day at the end of January, when he had Rock On Ruby behind in second.
This form has already been franked with Rock On Ruby putting up a fine show to finish second in the Neptune Novices’ Chase, which has already taken place at the Cheltenham Festival.
Bobs Worth is the 11/4 favourite in the Cheltenham odds and this is no bad thing as five of the last six winners of the Albert Bartlett have come from the top five in the betting.
However, he has never previously run over three miles, meaning that there are some slight question marks over whether he will see out the entire trip.
Punters looking for a horse that has proven its stamina in the past could do worse than opt for Court In Motion, who finished second over three miles on the Albert Bartlett trial behind Back In Focus.
This result also came on heavy ground and if he takes to firmer conditions, he should certainly be considered at 9/1 in the Cheltenham betting.
Another contender with solid each-way credentials is Kilcrea Kim at 9/1.
Philip Hobbs’ horse has won five of his last six races and can be excused the one setback when finishing fifth at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, as he was badly hampered late on when looking for racing room and never really recovered.
