Wozniacki one win away from regaining world number one status

| 18.02.2011

Quarter-final opponent Shahar Peer stands between Caroline Wozniacki and the world number one spot, but Wozniacki’s only loss to Peer came in this event last year.

Five times Wozniacki and Peer have met, and Woznicaki has beaten her opponent comprehensively on three occasions – Peer retired in their only meeting on clay – and the world number two is 2/7 to beat Peer.

Peer will take confidence from her win last year, but even so, stopping someone intent on becoming world number one will be difficult and Wozniacki is a great price at 8/11 to beat Peer 2-0.

Sam Stosur vs Jelena Jankovic

Jankovic upset the Dubai Duty Free betting odds in the third round when beating Kaia Kanepi, and the Serb will have to upset the odds again if she is to progress – Jankovic is 7/4 to beat Stosur.

Stosur (2/5 to beat Jankovic) has won the previous two meetings between the two but Jankovic holds the 3-2 head-to-head record and this could be a closer affair than the betting suggests.

All five matches have ended in straight set victories and backing Jankovic to win 2-0 after her confidence boosting third round result looks a great bet at 4/1.

Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Agnieszka Radwanska

Kuznetsova may be ranked 13 places lower than her opponent, but the Russian holds an 8-3 head-to-head advantage over Radwanska and has won the last four meetings between the two.

Kuznetsova is the 8/11 favourite to make it five straight wins over the Pole, but considering Radwanska has breezed through her opening two matches while Kuznetsova dropped two sets, backing Kuznetsova to win 2-1 at 11/4 looks the pick of this betting market.

Flavia Pennetta vs Alisa Kleybanova

The betting makes this a tight match-up but Flavia Pennerra offers all the value at 8/11 considering she has never lost in three matches with Kleybanova.

All three wins came in 2010 and they were all straight set victories, meaning the 2/1 for Pennetta to win 2-0 looks incredible value.

A £25 stake on Pennetta winning 2-0 would return £75. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
